How To Change Select Screen In Mugen
Hopefully some of you will observe this useful. It'southward a new tool I've been working on to enable editing of your Mugen select screen using a visual drag&drop interface.
I've had a stab at rendering the select screen every bit accurately as I could, though information technology'south not perfect; in particular the alpha blending is just an approximation of how it looks in Mugen. I think it's close enough, in general.
To requite an idea of how to use it, I've made a short video. Hopefully this demonstrates the basic thought:
Information technology should piece of work with WinMugen, hi-res WinMugen and Mugen 1.0. The program reads from mugen.cfg and the system.def file of the selected motif, and tries to scale the screen accordingly; it should get it right for Mugen 1.0 but for hi-res WinMugen you need to apply the setting available via the File -> Options card.
Other options allow you to hibernate the tiptop layer while dragging a grapheme around - useful for some motifs where the filigree is partially subconscious. You can also choose to show or hide empty cells (notation this only applies to the viewing mode within the tool; the actual Mugen setting is not affected). Also you tin choose to disable alpha-blending (I added this because for screens that make heavy use of these effects the program tin can start to lag if it tries to display them all; this specially applies if a transparent animation is used equally the jail cell background).
Animations are not played, only the program will try to brandish single frames where possible. It tries to exist clever and exclude whatever frames that might obscure the screen, only I included an choice to randomize the frames in case one of these does get displayed. In that location's also the selection to exclude blitheness elements completely.
What else... zipped characters are supported (although the program may exist tiresome to load if a lot of these are included). Characters can be added from anywhere; if they're not located in the chars directory then an absolute path volition be used (yet zipped characters will exist copied to the chars directory equally this seems to exist a Mugen requirement).
Cons: the more than characters in the select screen, the longer the program volition have to load. Flashier motifs with lots of blastoff-blending tin also slow things down, as mentioned. Other than that, no uncertainty in that location will exist some select screen paramaters I've failed to implement correctly, so delight feel free to postal service details of any errors you come beyond. Also any random crashes, weird behaviour, etc. Note: one issue I'm aware of is the width parameter, used with parallax elements for a perspective-blazon effect. I don't support this currently and just display the sprites as they are.
One more thing to be enlightened of: a backup is made of every file before it's outset edited by the plan - named (for example) "select.def.vselect.bak". The select screen def file is the only one ever edited, unless you utilize the "set as default motif" option which just updates the appropriate line in mugen.cfg.

Now, I think I wasted my fourth dimension making an pointless business relationship that can't download anything in that file-sharing site. Can you lot please post an culling link or prepare it? Does this also happen to anybody as well?

Some suggestions: give some info on the phase selected (proper name shouldn't be hard, as information technology is a single text parameter). As well, stages have a 'default' BGM selection (which plays when no other melody is specified): display information technology, and requite the pick to 'acquaintance' the currently selected BGM to the selected phase (peradventure to playtest the tune?).
I understand this would go far beyond the telescopic of this tool, just a screenshot display of the stage (non-animated) would certainly help (I had implemented this in my bootleg tool past autogenerating a bat which ran MUGEN with every single stage in the dir, pitting two invisible and lifebar-disabling car-dying chars against each other, and capturing a screenshot in every example which was then saved to deejay and renamed to fit the stage; I'grand sure you can find a ameliorate fashion ).
I just got back from having really hot and raw sexual activity with sal and seph, oh my gosh they violated my trunk many times, It WAS Keen!!!!! They have many big dick and used to take sex with my sexual practice holes! Also my armpits are strictly OFF LIMITS especially to foreign weiners.

Interesting ideas. I haven't really thought almost doing anything with stages.
EDIT: Yous should work with compatibility issues with screenpacks. My screenpack, HLoader Mugen 3 Galaxy
Tin yous be specific about the issues yous're talking near? What bug are there with this screenpack? Is there somewhere I tin can download it? (just the select screen system.def, select.def and sff - I don't want to download a 100meg archive)
EDIT: You should piece of work with compatibility bug with screenpacks. My screenpack, HLoader Mugen 3 Galaxy
Can you be specific about the bug you're talking about? What problems are there with this screenpack? Is there somewhere I can download it? (merely the select screen organization.def, select.def and sff - I don't desire to download a 100meg archive)
uplaoding my select.def, system.def, and system.sff. Please wait for it
I mean if screenpack accept alot of slots such as EVE, portraits are kinda pocket-sized. Information technology could be cool if you can zoom function of select screen (like you lot can do with picture in MSPaint) so y'all can see & organize them better.

well here is the select.def/.sff, and the system.def/sffYous're using hloader's screenpack correct?

no idea whats upwardly possibly a bug?

That screenpack has tons of stuff and the program probably could non handle it.
well hither is the select.def/.sff, and the system.def/sff

no idea whats upwards maybe a bug?
Foreign... this is what I encounter when I open your system.def:
The error message you're getting suggests the program can't find one of the files. So, could you lot let me know the full paths of each of the files (the ones that you sent) on your organisation? e.thousand.
c:\plan files\mugen\data\system.def, c:\plan files\mugen\data\select.def, etc?
One other affair to bank check: make sure you lot're opening the organization.def file, and not the select.def...
c:\program files\mugen\data\system.sff
c:\program files\mugen\data\select.def
c:\program files\mugen\data\select.sff
will that assistance?
Did you try over again, making sure to select the system.def file and not select.def?
I'll upload a new version that gives a specific error message if the user does this, as I guess information technology could easily happen.
